Biography
Vincent Salgueiro is a producer and composer of instrumental hybrid electronic music based in London, UK.
The majority of his work is soundtrack based for mixed media projects like short film, animation and games but he is making a debut release with EP ‘Cartesia’ with the intent of consistently releasing original music and collaborations in the future parallel to his commissioned work.
With eclectic influence from ambient electronic, post-rock, neo-classical, IDM and sound art, Vincent’s music is usually relatively experimental and textural with a focus on atmosphere, story and the physicality of sound. A common theme is contrast between bespoke organic and artificial sources of sound.

vincent salgueiro releases debut single ‘old world’ 12/11/21
‘Old World’ is Vincent Salgueiro’s debut release out on all streaming platforms on the 12th November 2021. It’s a solo produced instrumental track consisting of a hybrid of acoustic and electronic material with a soundtrack feel. The release of Old World follows Vincent’s work on several short film and video game soundtracks and marks his first venture into solo work. It’s the single and opening track from his upcoming EP ‘Cartesia’ - which juxtaposes organic and artificial sound in a sonic exploration of Cartesian Dualism as it relates to mortality and the digital age. Contrasting sources of sound gathered through studio engineering, field recording and analogue synthesis are performed and woven together to create the dense atmospheric soundscapes. Despite heavy focus on improvised performance, Cartesia’s production took place over the course of a year due to its conceptual, bespoke, explorative nature.
“Old world was chosen as the single from this EP because it feels like a summary of everything which is then explored further through the rest of the EP. It details the moment of breaching the rift between two realms and the sudden, irreversible detachment from everything you once knew. The release date is a palindrome (here in Europe anyway) to tie in with the themes of dualism and reflection.
The title, ‘Old World’, makes reference to the way in which people who have moved past the physical world (existing online, or having passed on) might refer to the physical world in the same way one might refer to ‘the old country’ after migrating. The themes of the project overall were inspired by Howard Rheingold’s ‘The Virtual Community’ and Sherry Turkle’s ‘Alone Together’.”
